Because, who doesn’t need a little music on Mondays?
Today’s feature is short and annoying, just for you. Two pieces that are in famous movies… which I just realized right now are also both Kubrick films.
First up is a cute and somewhat annoying song from A Clockwork Orange:
I have included 2 versions of Daisy Bell (composed by Harry Dacre, 1892). The first here is the IBM 7094, which became the first computer to sing in 1961. You know, way back when it was weird for computers to speak. I don’t know the truth behind this claim, but I read that its performance was the inspiration for the scene in in 2001: A Space Odyssey where HAL 9000 sings the same song.
And a more modern version:
Join me next Monday!
